  • One of the most delightful and straightforward treats is Grandma's jam roll, so delectable that it never lasts until the next day. For many, the jam roll evokes memories of childhood and their grandmother's kitchen. This easy-to-prepare delicacy was a popular choice among homemakers in the past century, yet today it is almost forgotten, despite its deliciousness and universal appeal. The recipe for making jam rolls is so simple that even those inexperienced in baking can succeed. Follow the recipe.

Preparation:
  1. Separate the egg yolks from the whites, and use a mixer to beat the egg whites.

  2. As the whites start to detach from the sides of the bowl, add five tablespoons of granulated sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.

  3. Incorporate the egg yolks, flour, and baking powder into the mixture, gently folding everything together with a spatula. The batter should remain slightly fluid.

  4. Prepare a rectangular pan by greasing and flouring it, then carefully pour in the batter for the roll.

  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for approximately 15 minutes, or until the cake begins to separate from the edges of the pan.

  6. Remove the hot cake from the pan and wrap it in a damp cotton cloth to cool.

  7. Once cooled, unwrap the cloth, spread jam over the cake, roll it up again, and optionally dust with powdered sugar. Allow it to rest for at least two hours before slicing and serving.

Buon appetito!
