  1. Prepare a 35x22 cm dish by lining it with baking paper or greasing it with butter and dusting with flour, ensuring to remove any excess flour.

NOTE:
  • If you possess only one large apple, you may enhance the quantities of walnuts and raisins by fifty percent.

  • A smaller baking dish, up to 30x20 cm, may be used; however, the baking time will need to be extended to approximately 40-50 minutes due to the increased height of the dough and dish. If your oven tends to run hot, cover the dish with aluminum foil after 30 minutes of baking.

  • To successfully turn out the sponge cake without it falling apart, allow it to cool for about 15 minutes. Then, place a tray larger than the baking container over the cake and swiftly invert it.

  • The cake is delightful and aromatic; therefore, ensure all ingredients from the description are included, particularly the cinnamon, grated lemon zest, and nutmeg, which impart a distinctive flavor. I recommend that you definitely make it!

  • Store the cake covered at room temperature for up to five days.
