What to Do If You Have Excess Thin Pie Crusts Left Over?
On multiple occasions, I find myself with leftover thin crusts after preparing pies or cakes. It can be frustrating to see perfectly good crusts go to waste. But don't worry! I have developed a simple and efficient recipe that transforms these crusts into a delightful pie. This dish is perfect for breakfast or dinner, and it’s a fantastic way to make the most of what you have. Below, I’ll guide you through the recipe step-by-step.
Ingredients: simple, total time: 35 min.
This recipe is simple and quick, taking only about 30 minutes to prepare. It serves four people.
2 thin crusts (torn)
2 eggs (scrambled)
100 g Philadelphia cheese (or other crumbled Greek feta cheese)
1 tsp salt
150 ml yogurt
60 ml oil
3 g baking powder
2.5 full tablespoons wheat flour (or corn flour)
20 cm round baking dish
Preparation
Mix the Ingredients
In a deep bowl, add the eggs and beat them with salt. Then, add the cheese and oil. Mix everything until the mixture is uniform.
Combine with Crusts
Next, add the torn crusts, flour, and baking powder to the bowl. Mix it all well until combined.
Transfer to Baking Dish
Now, transfer the mixture to an oiled round baking dish. Flatten the mixture evenly.
Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 25 minutes. You’ll want to keep an eye on it to ensure it doesn’t overcook.
Serve
Once baked, serve the finished pie with yogurt or sour milk for a delightful touch.
Buon appetito! Enjoy this simple yet delicious dish that makes the most of your leftover crusts.
Storage Tips
Keep Covered
Store the pie covered in a box at room temperature for the first day. After that, transfer it to the refrigerator to keep it fresh.
