Menemen -Turkish Meal

  • Menemen is a traditional Turkish meal that can be eaten at any time of the day. And here is the recipe for how they prepare it. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 45 min.
  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil EVO

  • 1 onion/ finely chopped (optional)

  • 3 green peppers/ chopped

  • 4 cups chopped tomatoes or canned tomatoes

  • 4 cloves garlic/ cut (optional)

  • 3 green onions/ 2 for cooking, and 1 for decoration

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • 6 free-range eggs

  • 1/4 a teaspoon of black pepper

  • mint leaves for decoration

Preparation:
  1. First, prepare all the ingredients as described above. Heat the olive oil in a pan, preferably an iron. Add chopped onion and green pepper, simmer until soft.

  2. Add tomatoes, garlic, and green onions, let simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring frequently until thickened, add salt to taste.

  3. Using a spoon, make a small hole for each egg and break the eggs into those recesses. Let it simmer uncovered until the eggs are cooked for a little 8–10 minutes. Help the egg whites to cook well with a spoon. If you like egg yolks, cook longer. Sprinkle ground black pepper over it.

  4. Garnish with chopped green onions and mint leaves. Serve in a pan. Buon appetito!
