This fantastic delicacy is known in all Orthodox houses. It is preparing for Christmas and everyone loves her a lot. It is very healthy and delicious in this way of preparation. In Orthodox houses, they leave the grain for 14 days to germinate the grain and put it on the table next to the Christmas cake as a decoration. Here is a brief recipe to help you make a good and rolled grain dessert for all the household. Follow the recipe.
Ingredients for Slav wheat:
500 g of whiter wheat grain
400 g of crystal sugar
400 g of ground walnuts
2 bags of vanilla sugar/ 20 g
1/2 nutmeg grated
200 ml cooked water for mixture/if you don't like dry grain
decoration, walnuts, sugar, fruits like dried plums, whipped cream
Preparation:
Take half a kilogram of white wheat from whiter wheat grain, pour it into an espresso pot and pour water over it, then leave it overnight.
The next day, wash the submerged grain in a few waters, to get the dirt out, and cook well in an espresso pot.
Water must be above the grain, 4-5 cm above. See from time to time whether water should be added. It is always necessary to keep about 2 cm or 2 fingers above the level of wheat.
When the wheat is cooked, let it cool and while it is still lukewarm, strain it but do not rinse it!
If you don't like dry grain, save 200 ml of water where the grain was cooked. I have added to the mix.
When you have strained the grain, while it is still warm, grind it in a blender, or on a meat grinder. It should not be ground too finely, it is better for the wheat to be coarsely ground, to have volume.
Mix lukewarm and ground wheat with sugar and walnuts, add bags of vanilla sugar and, if desired, half a finely ground nutmeg.
Mixing wheat, walnuts, and sugar is done by hand. At the end, sprinkle the festive wheat on top with walnuts. You can decorate it by making a cross-shaped relief from whole walnuts.
Buon appetito!
NOTE: You can use this mixture for cakes and pies if you like! Decorate with ground nuts or whipped cream.
