Old Italian Recipe for Grandma's Apple Pie

  • An old Italian recipe and the very way of making apple pie, I am sure you will like it. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 60 min.
  • 3 eggs

  • 300 g flour 00

  • 150 g sugar

  • 100 g seed oil or melted butter

  • 100 g milk or Plant-based Alternative

  • 4 apples

  • The grated peel of a lemon

  • 1 bag vanilla sugar/ 10 g

  • 1 bag baking powder for cakes/ 10 g

Preparation:
  1. Preheating the oven to 180 °C and line a pan (minimum 18 cm and maximum 26 cm) with parchment paper, then set it aside because we will need it later.

  2. Using a cutting board and knife, cut 3 apples into pieces and slice 1 apple, then place them in two different bowls, adding a few drops of lemon juice to keep them from blackening.

  3. In a large bowl, pour the eggs, sugar, seed oil, milk and Lemon Peel. Mix the ingredients using a wooden ladle. Add the flour, baking powder and vanilla sugar, continue mixing until all lumps have disappeared. Add the apples in pieces and incorporate them into the mixture.

  4. Pour the mixture into a previously lined pan then decorate the surface by arranging the apple slices in a radial pattern, sprinkle each handful of granulated sugar.

  5. Bake the Grandma's Apple Pie at 180 °C for about 40 min., at the end do the toothpick test. Grandma's Apple Pie is ready, let it cool and serve with a sprinkle of icing sugar. Buon appetito!
