Updated: Feb 18

  • Sponge Cake/ Patispan, also known as cake dough, is perhaps the most popular dough used as a base for preparing various cakes and pastries. It is spread all over the world and is prepared from eggs, flour and sugar, and sometimes milk is added. If you learn how to make it, you will easily be able to prepare all kinds of desserts. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: easy, total time: 40 min.
  • 5 whole eggs

  • 5 Tablespoons sugar

  • 5 Tablespoons flour

  • 1 sachet baking powder/ 10 g

Preparation:
  1. Preheat oven to 200–220 °C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. Separate the egg whites from the yolks. In a deep bowl, beat the egg whites into solid snow with a mixer. When the mixture becomes thick, start adding egg yolks one by one, beating constantly. Gradually add sugar and baking powder.

  3. When everything is well combined, add flour, mix it with a food processor, or mixer. Pour the mixture into a baking tray and bake in the oven at 180 °C for 20–30 minutes.

  4. At the end, check with a toothpick if the biscuit is ready so that it does not burn. If there is dough on the toothpick, you need to bake more. Leave the pâtisserie in the half-open oven for a few minutes before removing. Buon appettito!
