White Bars with Walnuts

  • Fantastic white walnut cubes, easy to prepare. Many in Serbia adore these bars, and they are often prepared at any time of the day, even for celebrations. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 60 min.
  • 250 g walnuts

  • 250 g of sugar

  • 1 egg

Glaze:

  • 4 Tablespoons powdered sugar

  • juice of one lemon

Preparation:
  1. Whisk 250 g of sugar with one egg yolk, add 250 g of ground walnuts and solid egg whites. Spread the well-mixed mass into a plate three fingers wide and one finger thick. Level it with a knife so that its surface is smooth, then coat it with glaze.

  2. Glaze: Pour four large spoons of powdered sugar into a deep plate and add the juice of one lemon.

  3. Mix well until you get a thick mass that will coat the dough plate.

  4. Cut the coated dough into sticks with a finger wide, place them on a pan coated with butter and keep them in a lukewarm oven for half an hour, to dry.

  5. They should stay white. Leave to cool before serving. Enjoy!
