Kuglof

  • Kuglof German cake fantastic soft ideal for breakfast in the morning with white coffee, a wonderful treat for all family members. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 80 min.
  • 3 eggs

  • 300 g of sugar

  • 250 ml of oil

  • 100 g of raisins/ chopped

  • 200 ml of red wine

  • 350 g of flour

  • 1 bag baking powder/ 10 g

  • 1 Tablespoon of cinnamon/ 10 g

  • 50 g grated chocolate for cooking

  • 50 g of bitter or/ margarine for coating

  • 100 g pretzels

Decoration:

  • a little powdered sugar

Preparation:
  1. Separate the egg whites from the yolks.

  2. Whisk half the sugar with the egg yolks, add a bag of cinnamon sugar. When a smooth mass is obtained, add oil and continue mixing.

  3. Whisk the egg whites well, then add the rest of the sugar to get a thick snow.

  4. Transfer the egg whites to a bowl with the egg yolks and mix everything lightly. Add raisins, wine and mix everything well. Add flour and baking powder while mixing.

  5. Coat the kuglof mold with margarine and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

  6. Pour half of the mass into the mold, then sprinkle with grated chocolate, then add the rest of the mass over.

  7. Bake at 175 °C for 60 min. Remove the kuglof from the mold while it is hot. Sprinkle the powder with sugar.

2. RECIPE KUGLOF WITH WINE
Ingredients:
  • 230 g butter/ room temperature

  • 250 g sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla aroma

  • 300 ml Cabernet Sauvignon

  • 210 g soft flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 40 g cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  1. Whisk the butter, sugar, and vanilla aroma well. Add one egg gradually, mixing well after each.

  2. In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients (flour, soda, cocoa, cinnamon, and salt). Stirring the mixture at the lowest speed, alternately add dry ingredients and red wine. Pour the uniform-smooth mixture without lumps into a well-greased and floured kuglof mold.

  3. Bake the kuglof for 40 min. at a temperature of 170 °C, with the first 20 minutes baking covered with aluminum foil. Leave the baked kuglof to cool in the mold for 15–20 minutes, then carefully take it out and put it on a serving plate. Sprinkle the kuglof with cocoa powder and serve!
