  • If you're looking for a delightful dessert that embodies the essence of Italian cuisine, then the apple jam tart is an excellent choice. This simple yet flavorful recipe showcases the natural sweetness of apples combined with the rich, comforting texture of a soft cake. Not only is it quick to prepare, but it also offers a delicious treat that can be enjoyed by family and friends alike.

Ingredients

  • To create this mouthwatering apple jam tart, you will need the following ingredients:

- For the Tart Base:

- 200 grams of all-purpose flour

- 100 grams of unsalted butter, softened

- 100 grams of sugar

- 1 large egg

- 1 teaspoon of baking powder

- A pinch of salt

- Zest of one lemon for added flavor

- For the Filling:

- 300 grams of apple jam (store-bought or homemade)

- 2 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced

- Ground cinnamon to taste

- Optional: a handful of chopped nuts for added texture

Preparation Steps

  1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 180°C (350°F). This ensures that your tart will bake evenly and develop a beautiful golden color.

  1. Make the Tart Base: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter and sugar, creaming them together until the mixture becomes light and fluffy. Add the egg and lemon zest, mixing well. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.

  1. Assemble the Tart: Grease a tart pan with removable bottom or a pie dish. Press two-thirds of the dough into the bottom and up the sides of the pan, creating an even layer. Spread the apple jam generously over the base, ensuring it covers the entire surface. Arrange the thinly sliced apples on top of the jam in a decorative pattern. If desired, sprinkle ground cinnamon and chopped nuts over the apples for added flavor and crunch.

  1. Top the Tart: With the remaining dough, crumble small pieces over the apple filling to create a rustic topping. This will add a delightful texture to the tart as it bakes.

  1. Bake: Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.

  1. Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the tart from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack. This cooling period helps the tart set properly. Serve it warm or at room temperature, perhaps with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent treat.

Quick and Delicious

  • This apple jam tart is not only quick to prepare but also quick to eat! Its soft cake-like texture pairs beautifully with the sweet and tangy apple jam, making it a delightful dessert option for any occasion. Whether you are hosting a family gathering, enjoying a quiet evening at home, or looking to impress friends with your baking skills, this tart is sure to be a hit.
