Ingredients: easy, total time: 130 min., 8 servings
  • 20 g of fresh yeast

  • 1 teaspoon sugar

  • a little salt

  • 1 egg

  • 20 ml oil

  • 200 ml of lukewarm milk

  • 450-500 g of flour

  • 70 g melted butter

  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano

For the filling:

  • 200 g of ham or ordinary salami

  • ketchup or tomato sauce

  • 100 g of Edam cheese or mozzarella

  • 100 g of spreading cheese

  • oregano to taste

  • 150 grated tea sausage or bacon

Spread:

  • 1 egg

  • pinch of salt

  • 50 ml milk

  • melted butter

  • black olives finely chopped/ optional

Preparation:
  1. Add yeast, sugar and a little flour to the warm milk. When it rises, add all the other ingredients and knead to a smooth dough. The dough must be separated from the bowl.

  2. Let the dough rise a little for 1 hour.

  3. Develop the dough with a rolling pin to a thickness of 5 mm. Then coat the whole dough with melted butter, apply ketchup or tomato sauce. Arrange the ham on the complete dough, then sprinkle with grated cheese, sprinkle with oregano and add finely chopped tea sausages.

  4. Wrap the dough roll, transfer to a baking tray lined with baking paper and cut to a thickness of 1 cm. Lay the rolls on the back and coat all the rolls on the sides and top with the rest of the margarine. Whisk one egg, add a pinch of salt, a little milk and use a brush to coat all the rolls on the sides and top.

  5. Leave the dough covered for about 15 minutes, while preheating the oven to 180 °C. Bake for about 20–25 minutes. Serve warm.

Buon appetito!

NOTE: When you make the rolls and when they have already been cut and placed in the baking tray, you can sprinkle with a little more cheese or mozzarella, add a point of ketchup and a little olive oil from above.
