Strudel with Walnuts

  • Soft and delicious strudels with walnuts, a dessert that is often consumed in my area, here is a nice recipe. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: easy, total time: 90 min.

Dough:

  • 1 kg of flour

  • 1 cube of fresh yeast/42 g

  • 1 bag of baking powder/10 g

  • 6 Tablespoons sugar

  • 5 Tablespoons oil

  • 3 eggs

  • 200 ml of water

  • 200 ml of milk

Filling:

  • 500 g of ground walnuts

  • 5 Tablespoons sugar

  • milk as needed 150 ml as needed more

Preparation:
  1. Soak the yeast with 200 ml of lukewarm water, add 2 tablespoons of sugar. Let it soak for about 15 minutes-20 minutes.

  2. Whisk the eggs with a mixer, add the remaining 4 Tablespoons of sugar, pour in the yeast with warm milk, oil, baking powder.

  3. Gradually add flour and knead to a softer dough.

  4. Cover with a cloth and let rise 40 min. Divide the dough into two parts and roll it out thinly.

  5. Put ground walnuts, sugar, and milk in the deep pan enough to soak the walnuts.

  6. Stir constantly on a hot plate, so much so that the nuts soften the filling, but not infrequently.

  7. Fill the dough and roll it into strudels.

  8. Put them in a greased pan, leave to stand in the pan for 15–20 minutes while the oven heats up.

  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C for about 30 min.

  10. Leave the baked strudel covered for about 30 minutes to soften it a bit and cool it, then cut it into pieces and serve. You can also put powdered sugar from above if you like.
