Pie with Potatoes and Meat

  • Serbian traditional pie with meat and potatoes. Very delicious and simple made. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: cup 200 ml, dish for oven 35 × 45 cm, simple, total time: 60 min.
  • 500 g pie crust

  • 500 g minced meat/beef and pork

  • 2 larger potatoes/ grated

  • 2 onions/finely chopped

  • a little stew oil

  • salt, pepper, spice to taste

For Topping:

  • 4 eggs

  • 1 cup sour milk/200 ml

  • 1 cup of mineral water/200 ml

  • salt to taste.

  1. Cut the onion into cubes and fry it in a pan with little oil

  2. Add minced meat and stir until soft.

  3. Peel a potato, grate it and put it in a bowl with the meat.

  4. Add pepper, salt and add spice as desired.

  5. Put two crusts, slightly oiled, in a square greased pan.

  6. Those crusts should protrude from the casserole dish because the pie overlaps with them later.

  7. Arrange a portion of the filling over the crust.

  8. 4 full spoons are enough for every two crusts.

  9. Repeat the process until all the crusts and all the material are used up.

  10. Fold the pie with those crusts that protruded from the casserole dish

  11. Cut the pie into cubes with a sharp knife.

  12. Beat eggs, add sour milk and sour water.

  13. Pour the topping evenly over the pie.

  14. Leave the pie for 15 minutes, just while the oven heats up to 220 °C.

  15. Cover the pie with aluminum foil and bake it in a preheated oven at that temperature for ten minutes.

  16. Reduce the oven to 200 °C and bake the pie for another 20 minutes.

  17. After 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake the pie for another ten minutes, until a fine golden crust is made.

  18. Serve pie with meat and potatoes hot or cold, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or appetizer.
