Slav Wheat is one of the main symbols of the baptismal glory, is made in the traditional way, but it is tastier with the addition of nutmeg and cinnamon. Guests are welcomed for the true celebration, and every hostess makes a special effort to prepare it. Follow recipe.
Ingredients: simple, total time: 80 min.
300 g wheat seed
300 g ground walnuts
200 g granulated sugar
1-2 bag vanilla sugar/10-20g
nutmeg to taste
pinch of cinnamon/ or to taste
a couple of walnut kernels for decoration
Preparation:
Clean the grain well from impurities and rinse under running water.
Transfer it to a large pot and let it boil.
When it boils, let it boil for a few minutes, pour out the water (the grain remains in the strainer), pour new, cold water and repeat the process.
Let it boil again, discard the water, pour clean cold water again and let it boil.
This is done four times, in order to clarify the water.
During cooking, some grains will crack, which is good.
When the water boils for the fourth time, remove the pan from the stove, put it in a cool place, cover it and let it stand for 2 hours.
In a large saucepan, combine the cereal, ground walnuts and a pinch of sugar. Add a little cinnamon and nutmeg.
Add a little cooking water to the grain, so that it is not dry.
Taste and add more sugar if necessary.
Put the grain in a bowl, sprinkle it with ground walnuts, decorate with halves of walnut kernels or whipped cream as you like.
Household members and guests are served a spoonful of grain before lunch on the day of celebration.
Buon appetito!
NOTE:
Keep the dessert in a pot in the refrigerator and pour it into smaller dessert bowls when serving.
Always add whipped cream or some other decoration afterward.
