  • Djuvec is a traditional dish originating from Turkey, over time it has become the main dish in the Balkans, it is very tasty and is made from peppers, tomatoes, carrots, meat, and rice. It is very tasty and is made in clay pots special for the oven. It can also be in an ordinary pan if you don't have it. Follow recipe.


Ingredients: simple, total time: 1h and 15 min.
  • 4 chicken drumsticks

  • 4 tomatoes/diced

  • 1-2 large carrot/ on cubes or rings

  • 1 red large fresh paprika/diced or longitudinal pieces,

  • 1 green large fresh paprika/diced or longitudinal pieces,

  • 1 yellow large fresh paprika/diced or longitudinal pieces,

  • 1 blue eggplant/diced

  • 1 onion/finely chopped

  • 1 teaspoon red ground paprika

  • 2 clove garlic/finely chopped

  • salt, pepper, dry spice

  • parsley to taste/finely chopped

  • 300 gr of rice

  • about 700 ml water

Preparation:

  • Pour a little oil into the pot and stir the onion until it softens.

  • We add carrot and the chicken meat that we cleaned from the bones, add the sliced ​​paprika to the longitudinal pieces, add a little water and simmer further.

  • Add diced eggplant to the pot (if there are seeds, clean them with a spoon inside) and add very little water, so that it does not burn.

  • Finally, peel the tomato and cut it into cubes, put it in the pot and season a little with pepper and herbal spice and 1 teaspoon red ground paprika. Immediately afterward, put the washed and cleaned rice into the pot, add water so that it covers the mass in the pot for 15–20 minutes. Cook over low heat.

  • Then turn off the heat and take a larger and deeper pan, oil it and pour everything from the pot into it.

  • Bake in the oven at 180 °C for 30–40 minutes. When the Đuveč finished, decorate it from above with parsley. Good appetite!
