Updated: Mar 11

  • As I mentioned, Kuglof can be made in many ways and with different ways and ingredients, certainly tasty and decorative for festive occasions as well. Try it. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, standing time: 40 min. total time: 125 min

Crispy Dough:

  • 200 g of spelled flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder

  • 80 g of powdered sugar

  • 1 bag vanilla sugar/or 1 tablespoon/ 10 g

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 1 egg

  • 100 g of softened butter

Stuffing:

  • 150 g of melted butter

  • 750 g cream cheese/cottage cheese

  • 200 g powdered sugar

  • 1 vanilla bag pudding powder/ 40 g

  • 3 eggs

  • grated rind of two lemons

  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder

Glaze:

  • 50 g white chocolate

  • 1 teaspoon of edible oil, sunflower

  • 50 g milk or dark chocolate

Preparation:
  1. Sift flour with baking powder into a bowl. Add the other ingredients in order and beat with a mixer into a smooth dough. Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for about 40 minutes.

  2. Take out the dough and shape it into a roll. Place it in a greased mold, 26 cm in diameter, and press into it to form a 5 cm high edge.

  3. Melt the butter and let it cool. Whisk the cheese with the sugar, pudding powder, eggs, butter, and lemon zest into a uniform mixture.

  4. Transfer about 2/3 of the mixture to the mold. Sift the cocoa and stir into the remaining mixture. Divide the dark mixture into light ones and pull the fork in a spiral shape through both layers so that a marble pattern is formed.

  5. Place the oven, at the lower level of the preheated oven, at 170 °C and bake for approximately 60 minutes.

  6. Leave the mold in the switched-off oven for another 15 minutes.

  7. If necessary, separate the cake from the edges with a knife and place it on a cake tray. Slice the white chocolate and melt with the oil in a steamer, pour the icing over the cake. Thinly slice the milk or dark chocolate with a knife or grate it and decorate the cake.

Buon appetito!
