Homemade simple Tartar sauce

  • Tartar sauce (french sauce tartare) is a sauce of French origin, the main ingredients of which are mayonnaise and finely chopped capers. In addition, pickles, lemon juice, and herbs such as dill and parsley are often added to tartar sauce. Tartar sauce can be enhanced with other herbs, lemon juice, and olives. It is most commonly served with seafood dishes such as fish and chips, fish sandwiches, fish sticks, fried oysters, and calamari-squids, also some salads. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 7 minutes
  • 250 g of mayonnaise

  • 2 full Tbsp of sour cream

  • 1 tsp mustard

  • 4 medium pickles/ finely chopped

  • 2-3 small cloves of garlic/ minced

  • 1 Tbsp of fresh parsley/ finely chopped

  • 1 Tbsp of weed dill/ finely chopped

  • salt and black pepper to taste

Preparation:
  1. Add mayonnaise, sour cream and mustard to a deep and small bowl. Mix well, set aside.

  2. Finely chop the weed dill as well as the garlic.

  3. You can cut pickles into small cubes or grate them on a fine grater.

  4. Add all the chopped ingredients to a bowl with mayonnaise, sour cream and mustard and mix.

  5. Finely chop the parsley and sprinkle over as desired.

  6. Tartar sauce is served with cutlets, various meats and fish and side dishes.

NOTE:
  • In case you don't have gherkins, you can add 1/2 tablespoon of lemon juice instead.

  • Keep the sauce in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
