Cabbage with Apples

  • A wonderful and healthy meal of vegetables, cabbage, carrots with the addition of apple and pork. An ideal meal for a Sunday and family lunch for the whole family. Follow recipe.

Ingredients: simple, total time: 2h 20 min. 6-8 serving
  • 1.5 kg pork neck

  • 1 medium head of cabbage

  • 3 onions/ finely chopped

  • 3 cloves of garlic/ minced

  • 1 carrot/ cut into rings

  • 2 apples with peel/ washed and cut on big slices

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 /2 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp thyme

  • 1 bay leaf

  • fresh parsley/ finely chopped

  • 5-6 liter deep pot

Preparation:
  1. Cabbage, wash, and chop into larger pieces.

  2. Cut the carrot into rings and cut the meat into cubes.

  3. Mince the garlic with the help of a garlic tool.

  4. Cut the apples into larger slices.

  5. Fry the onion in olive oil until translucent, stirring occasionally.

  6. Add carrots and pork meat and mix well. Cook about 20 minutes.

  7. Add garlic, mix well.

  8. When the garlic releases its fragrance, add sliced apples and chopped cabbage, add water if necessary, to cover all ingredients.

  9. Add spices: salt, black pepper, cumin, thyme and bay leaf.

  10. Cook over moderate heat, covered, for about 2 hours.

  11. Towards the end, add chopped parsley.

  12. Serve warm.
